Because, if it is, you’re in for a treat today. Earlier this week, I was drinking my umpteenth London Fog with my colleague Lindsay at High Tea and I said something like “I seriously have an Earl Grey addiction. I should write about it.” And here we are. I’ve been a fan of the Earl since … [Read more]
Look, I’m going to finally admit it, I have no clue what I’m doing when it comes to fashion. Home decor, yes, I get it, I have a sense of what I’m accomplishing, plus being artistic and creative are kinda my thing. But clothes, accessories, trying to put an outfit together that doesn’t scream, “I’M UNAWARE OF … [Read more]
Autumn. It’s such a lovely time of year, isn’t it? Yes, we have mornings that arrive a little too crisp, giving us Winnipeggers that instant worry about early snow. (Step off snow, it’s not your time yet.) And yes, darkness seems to descend upon our streets way too quickly each evening. Yet, this season also brings us an abundance … [Read more]
In the dark. Under the moonlight you see a sight that almost stops your heart. You try to scream, but terror takes the sound before you make it. You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes. You’re paralyzed. You’re paralyzed because “Chuck of the Corn” just leapt out of at you, scaring you witless, provoking … [Read more]
Writing content that people will be into is no easy task, but it’s a hugely worthwhile one. When Manitoba Hot fell into my lap four years ago, there wasn’t much to it. Oh sure, there were a few informative posts here and there, but not many pageviews to speak of (oh, Google Analytics, always speaking the … [Read more]
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times… Oh, who are we kidding, the Medieval age looked to be pretty much the absolute worst of times in human history. There were crippling plagues, unsanitary living conditions, insane rulers, and everyday life was full of extreme hardship, except for maybe 1% of the population. Hmmm, wait, … [Read more]
Chuck and I absolutely love living the road trip life. We’ve tackled quite a bit of this magnificent country by car (west coast in 2010, east coast in 2014, Ontario in 2015), but we haven’t road tripped so much here at home in Manitoba. Before you begin throwing shade and shame at us, we are trying to … [Read more]
Winnipeg just finished hosting GoMedia Marketplace — the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC)‘s annual travel media marketplace that profiles Canadian tourism products to domestic and international travel media. Since Travel Manitoba was this year’s host, I was asked to join the Social Media team, which also included peeps from Tourism Winnipeg and the CTC.
This is the best way to spend a work day. Our fishing and hunting guru, Shel Zolkewich, invited me to join her, local anglers and a bunch of media to Travel Manitoba’s annual Fish Tales event. The morning was chilly, but everyone was heatedly anticipating getting out on the Red to reel in a few feisty channel cats.
So there’s this guy I like and one day I found out that he has a hankering for this thing where gigantor men chuck each other around and yell and pound their chests and yell some more, then break chairs on their noggins. No, it’s not a weekend of male bonding in the Appalachian backwoods, … [Read more]
Over the summer, Travel Manitoba invited the super-sweet and fun-loving blogger, BCRobyn, to spend 28 days exploring, tasting and enjoying all the great things a Manitoba summer has to offer. Her itinerary had her packed to the gills – to say the least! If you think there’s not much to do in this province, you … [Read more]
