After our first Harry Potter Night (HPN) was a great success, I was looking forward to the next. Part II took place at Lindsay’s lovely home. For this night, we went to our crystal ball to ask which movie we should watch. After a few tense moments, the number “3” was revealed along with the grim. shudders
The third movie, The Prisoner of Azkaban, is always a good watch. It’s the one that starts taking the series down a darker path. For me, it’s truly how I envisioned the world while reading the books. The choice made us as happy as Hagrid with a new magical creature. Bring on the Hippogriffs! Just remember to bow gently before them.
After the movie, we played a lively Harry Potter Scene It game. And when I say lively, we ended up screaming at each other like a bunch of young, immature mandrakes. The game’s final question was about Harry’s first flight on the hippogriff. We also had an Instagram user called “hippogriffs_are_hypocrites” like our posts. Add that to watching the third movie and it seemed like a Hippogriff of a night overall.
HPN II treats
- With the use of a Peskipiksi Pesternomi spell, Laurenda was able to capture some pixies and roll them up into a tasty treat. She also created a bubbling new potion that would have made Professor Snape proud, especially since it bore his name “The Severus.”
- Lindsay wrangled down a Hungarian Horntail, stole some of its horns, and whipped up delectable dragon horn puff pastries. (Good job, Linds, horntails are a right nasty piece of work!) We celebrated her score with a nice big shot of Patron-us.
- My contribution was a cauldron of sweets from Honeydukes. There were chocolate wands, hippogriff knuckles, Hagrid’s rock cakes and some Cornelius Fudge. Like Laurenda, my drink was inspired by the Half Blood Prince… a Sectumsempra sip with a sopophorous bean and bezoar. (So it’s a potion that can kill you, but it comes with a bezoar to fix you all back up. Hooray.)
