“I solemnly swear I am up to no good.” And for seven fun evenings, our little Harry Potter Night ⚡️ club upheld that Marauders Map oath to whip up a silly bit o’ magic together. So, as I write about our last HPN night, with a slight lump in my throat, I got to thinking, “Why was this so much fun?” Sure, we made creative treats, yes, we gave them silly Potter-themed names, and of course we debated everything Potter, from which film was best to what houses we would be sorted into (Ssslytherin looksss good on you Laurenda), but I think it was how close we became as friends that really made HPN special.
When we first started this club, I was new to Travel Manitoba, and was happy to find a couple of fellow Potterheads in Lindsay and Laurenda. Shortly after our HPNs began, Laurenda moved on to another job, Lindsay went on maternity leave (and came back with new muggle Cora), and then I too moved on from Travel Manitoba. But throughout all those life changes, we stuck together, like a pile of Lindsay’s troll boogers. (Yes, I went there.)
I guess it’s bittersweet to be moving on now. We’re our own little Harry, Ron and Hermione off on another adventure. Here’s hoping it’s just as magical. ✨
For our last party we brought back a few of our favourite treats…

So, as I sit 20 years from now reminiscing about my love for Harry Potter and these special HPN nights spent with two exceptional women, Chuck will utter to me, “After all this time?” And I will say, “Always.”
